You've bought the planners. Downloaded the apps. Started the habit trackers. Told yourself this time would be different.

Maybe you even sat down on a Sunday night and built the perfect week — colour-coded, organised, ready to go.

Then life happened. By Wednesday, the plan had already slipped. Sometimes by Monday afternoon.

And after enough of these cycles, the same painful thought creeps in:

"Maybe I'm just not disciplined enough. Maybe I'm just lazy."

Here's the truth: that thought is built on a lie.

The system didn't fail because you failed. It failed because it was never built for how your brain actually works.

Discipline isn't the missing ingredient. The right map is.

Wired Differently is a beautifully illustrated guide that explains, in plain language, why ADHD brains respond to motivation, attention, and follow-through completely differently than the brains most productivity advice is built for — and why that was never a character flaw.

Inside you will find:
Why ADHD is a disorder of attention regulation, not a lack of attention
What dopamine actually does in your brain — and why 'just try harder' was never going to work
The real difference between executive dysfunction and laziness
Why you can hyperfocus for six hours on one thing and find a five-minute task impossible the next
A clear breakdown of executive function as your brain's 'management team,' and what happens when it struggles to coordinate
A checklist to recognise these patterns in your own life — not to diagnose, but to finally see yourself clearly

Part 1 of the Wired Differently series

Short enough to read in one sitting. Clear enough to change how you see every 'failed' system you've tried before.

Because before any system can work, you have to understand the brain you're building it for.

You were never broken. You were just handed the wrong map. This is where you start drawing your own.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Wired Differently is a three-part guide series designed to help you understand how an ADHD brain works, build systems that actually fit the way it operates, and apply that understanding to everyday life. Part 1 focuses on understanding your brain, Part 2 on building a workable system, and Part 3 on living with it more sustainably.
  • The series is designed to be read in order because each part builds on the previous one. Part 1 gives you the understanding, Part 2 turns that understanding into a practical system, and Part 3 brings everything into your relationships, emotions, environment, rest, and everyday life. That said, each guide can still be useful on its own.
  • No. The series was specifically designed around the idea that rigid productivity systems often fail when they assume consistent motivation, energy, attention, and follow-through. Part 2 introduces a flexible system built around how your capacity actually changes, rather than expecting every day to look the same.
  • No. The guides are educational and practical, not diagnostic or medical treatment. They are designed to help you understand common ADHD-related patterns, recognise what may be happening in your own life, and experiment with more supportive ways of working and living. They are not a substitute for individual professional assessment or care.
  • You receive the digital guides included in the collection as instant PDF downloads. You can read them on your phone, tablet, computer, or print them at home. The complete series includes all three parts: Understanding Your Brain, Building Your System, and Living It.

Oh yeah, the dopamine part wrecked me a little. "is this worth my energy" is literally the question my brain runs before i can do ANYTHING and i never had words for it before. like i always just called it laziness when i couldn't make myself do something boring, even stuff i knew mattered, but apparently that's just... how the whole system works. it's not that i don't care, it's that my brain is out here doing a cost-benefit analysis on everything before i even consciously decide anything. explains so much about why i can ignore an email for a week but reply to a random text in 0.2 seconds. kind of wish someone had explained this to me a decade ago instead of just telling me to use a planner
